Home Greenergy

Home Greenergy is dedicated to the homeowner, tenant, or dweller.

This site has been created to provide information, tips & facts to save energy in the household & more importantly, save money. Green energy is a real buzzword used increasingly this century to spell out the ways & means of producing & using energy with a negligible impact on the environment & our precious atmosphere.

There are a number of terms used in correlation to green energy like sustainable energy, alternative energy, clean energy & renewable energy.  All of these terms are closely related but have individual distinctions.

Sustainable energy encompasses renewable energy & energy efficiency.  These consist of naturally occurring, inexhaustible methods of energy collection & production that are sustainable now & well into the future with little or no influence on future generations.  The technology to capture the power of the seas & oceans’ waves & tides; the kinetic energy from the wind & watercourses; the heat in the earth beneath our feet & the production of biofuels & biomass are cornerstones of renewable energy.

Not all of these technologies are practical for residential use but obviously solar power & wind power are the 1st things we think about when home green energy is mentioned.  Energy efficiency is something we can all do in our homes to cut down on our energy usage but save your hard earned dollar in the process.  Some energy efficiency ideas won’t cost you a dime while others can have a hefty initial cost but will pay for themselves in the long run.  The only limitation is your own drive, determination & willingness to save money & energy.

Alternative energy as the term suggests, is a concept dedicated to replacing an energy source with another.  Historically, freethinking or industrialized communities have continually sought ways & means of sustaining mankind’s hunger for energy. Some of the solutions came about by necessity, as 1 resource may have become so badly depleted, as firewood was in the 15th century or in some cases the source nearly became extinct, as with whale oil circa the 1850s.

Nowadays, we associate alternative energy with renewable energies.  Modern governments & industry are striving to substitute the means to power our homes by using natural gas, wind, solar, hydroelectric & nuclear power.  The end goal is clean energy for your home’s energy needs plus less pollution, greenhouse gases & carbon dioxide emitted to the atmosphere.

Eco-friendly technologies are available right now to make a big difference in your own home by producing your very own green energy.  Couple that with an energy efficient home & you have a recipe for plummeting electricity bills & the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing a good deed – a “one percenter” for your own patch of turf & for your community.
